September 10 2010

My birthday.  Happily surprised to learn I'm a year younger than I kinda figured.    There were greetings from childhood friends on Facebook.

Kids and I to library after school.

Drove Jonathan to an evening party.  Passed through small towns on the way.

Walk while kids at school.

There is a fierce little airplane buzzing over the fields, diving then soaring out of sight.  It was amazing, it hardly made any noise - and incredibly fast.  A new technology?  I saw an old man in his driveway controlling the thing.

X-Country Meet

COLD.  Temperature dropped from 100 to 65.   The sky is overcast.

Day spent anticipating the Big Meet.  After lunch I pull a group of kids from school and drive to Rasmussen Park.

In the back seat the kids talk:
  • nurses checked heads for lice and some kids were sent home.  "Lice can hide in blond hair."  "What's the singular of 'lice'?"  "Jackson came back to school with a bald head!"

Mary & Jonathan both compete, but there's lots of dead time for crowdwatching.

Jonathan got 4th Place ribbon; Mary placed 30th in her group.
