Aug 16 2010

For some reason I wake at 1:30am and shuffle downstairs.
And for some reason one of the back doors is open,  only a screen between me and the coyotes.
And I hear the sound of gushing water.  An irrigation line had broken.

Jonathan needs short pants for school, so we drive down to Folsom.
Kohl's had nothing but overpriced gansta fashion; we stop at WalMart and find nice stuff for 80% less.

Checking out, there were no bags to put your purchases in.  There were WalMart logo-ed sacks for sale.  I asked the cashier "what's the deal?"  He was embarrassed, it was "a pilot experiment."  Probably an absurd, pointless gesture to placate local progressives, and infuriate actual customers.

Oh, Jonathan bought a snazzy fedora for a couple of bucks.

At sundown, a short walk.
  • nuthatches doing some ritual on a telephone pole, with funny voices
  • hawk headed for a perch

  •  on one stretch of road, dragonflies by the thousands at 20-50 feet overhead; the camera couldn't capture it.
